Teresa James, afkomstig uit Houston, TX, woont zoals de leden van haar band in Los Angeles, CA. Teresa James is als zangeres te horen op albums van o.a. Randy Newman (‘Putin’, 2017), Eric Burdon, Tommy Castro, Bill Medley en Walter Trout.

Teresa debuteerde in 1998 solo met ‘The Whole Enchilada’ en nam in 2003 met The Rhythm Tramps ‘Oh Yeah’ op. Met haar album ‘You Know You Love It’ (2010), was ze finaliste voor een IMA (Independent Music Award). Na vijf decennia, een dozijn albums, BMA en Grammy nominaties, verscheen onlangs (als opvolger van ‘Here in Babylon’, 2019) bij Blue Heart Records #12, ‘Rose-Colored Glasses Vol. 1’.

Teresa nam met haar partner en co-producer/co-songwriter Terry Wilson de twaalf nummers op met haar band en enkele gasten. De kern van The Rhythm Tramps bestond uit gitarist Billy Watts, bassist Terry Wilson en drummers Herman Matthews & Jay Bellerose. De gasten waren een selectie uitzonderlijke gitaristen uit Texas als o.a. Yates McKendree, Anson Funderburgh, Johnny Lee Schell, Lee Roy Parnell, Dean Parks en Snuffy Walden. Ze worden geholpen door blazers (Paulie Cerra & Darrell Leonard), Kevin McCandree (B3, piano), Michael Starr (strings) en vocalisten (Lucy Wilson, Richard Millsap, Nicki Bluhm).

“De Schots-Amerikaanse financiële journalist BC Forbes zei: "Optimisme is een heelmiddel, pessimisme is vergif”. James en haar Rhythm Tramps hebben 12 nieuwe nummers verzameld die dat standpunt weerspiegelen. Elk is gevuld met romantische noties van jubelende liefde, verlossing, doorzettingsvermogen, kracht en vreugde….”

Op de opener “Show Me How You Do It” probeert Teresa met haar charmes haar minnaar te overhalen om zijn geheimen te onthullen en met veel getoeter, danst ze dan met gitarist Anson Funderburgh (The Rockets) verder op het swingende “Takes One to Know One”. Aan de titelsong die dan volgt, schreef ook Nicki Bluhm, die hier ook in het koortje van deze love song zingt en op de rumba “I Got a Love I Wanna Hold on To” zet drummer Bellerose een knappe groove neer. De filmische jazzy ballade ”All You Ever Bring Me is the Blues” roept beelden op uit een oude film, met Teresa in de hoofdrol als de femme fatale. Het swampy “Wish It into the Cornfield” (de titel is genoemd naar een aflevering van Twilight Zone) is het verhaal van een dakloze dierenarts die ondanks alle ellende doorzet, Once the World Stops Ending” is een oproep om waakzaam te blijven en “Everybody, Everybody” een reggaeachtig brouwsel met (alweer) een oproep, een om eenheid en vrede. Op “Things Ain’t Like That” voegt de legendarische country blues gitarist Lee Roy Parnell knap wat aanstekelige slide gitaar toe en zit Kevin McKendree (Delbert McKlinton Band) achter de toetsen. “When My Baby Comes Home” is een romantische piano ballade, op “Rise Together” neemt Snuffy Walden (Eric Burdon Band) de gitaar over en voor de afsluiter “Gimme Some Skin” wordt nog eens alles uit de kasten gehaald. Teresa James is erg overtuigend in haar eindpleidoo: “A little bit of love is still loving, any amount of of forgiveness can mouve mountains, just a tiny touch is still touching someone, we can do it…”.
